DAY 1 Depart Australia for England

Today we depart for London, England. Fly on a premium award-winning airline like Singapore Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Etihad Airways, Emirates, Qantas or British Airways (subject to availability). Enjoy the attentive cabin service, regular meals and onboard entertainment system.

DAY 2 Arrive in London

You will be personally met at London’s Heathrow Airport by your HolidayMax representative and transferred to your central London hotel. You can relax and use the rest of the day to explore your hotel and its facilities, perhaps take a stroll around this iconic city.

Make the most of your second flexi-tour today. This is a great day to take your Thames River cruise. Your cruise through the heart of the River Thames takes you from Westminster past an array of amazing landmarks to Tower Pier with more entertaining commentary from your captain.

Perhaps also visit the King’s royal residence of Buckingham Palace, see Poets’ Corner and the Coronation Chair at Westminster Abbey, take a flight in one of the famous glass pods on the London Eye, climb the breathtaking heights of St Paul’s Cathedral’s domed galleries, soak in the exceptional view from the ultra-modern Shard building or test your nerves at the formidable Tower of London.

DAY 5 London Eye & Discover London

This morning take a spectacular scenic flight on the popular London Eye, the world’s largest observation wheel. Enjoy 360 degree moving views from the heart of the city as you get up close to Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament and Buckingham Palace. You can even see as far as Windsor Castle on a clear day. Built to mark the new millennium, this 135m tall observation wheel has been an iconic part of London’s skyline for two decades. Your luxurious glass capsule enables you to see right across London and experience this mega-metropolis from a different perspective with interactive commentary.

London is at your disposal for the rest of your final flexi-tour day. If shopping is your thing, then spend the day on famous Oxford Street, wander trendy Kensington High Street, browse the upmarket boutiques of Bond Street and Mayfair or shop the British gent look on Jermyn Street. DAY 6 London to Paris (France)

Today we make our way to the English Channel for a crossing to France before journeying through the French countryside to Paris, arriving in the ‘City of Love’ in the afternoon.

Experience a driving tour of the splendid French capital to see some of the city’s most treasured landmarks, like the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, Arc de Triomphe and more.

This evening enjoy a special dinner at an atmospheric Parisian restaurant in an iconic location.

DAY 7 Explore Paris

Choose how you’d like to experience this spectacular city with a selection of activities on offer. The wonderful thing about Paris is that there is always so much to experience here. Its monument-lined boulevards, museums, classical bistros and boutiques are complimented by a new wave of hip urban culture. The River Seine flows through the heart of the city, its banks are peppered with book sellers and market stalls. Famous architecture is scattered through the city, so exploring on foot is a great way of taking in every ounce of history. A River Seine cruise will take you right past many city highlights complete with fascinating commentary - such as Grand Palais, the Louvre, Notre Dame Cathedral (under repair) and National Assembly - to the famous Eiffel Tower for a birds eye view of Paris. Your HolidayMax tour leader is full of ideas and local knowledge, so that you can get the best out of your time here.

Today is a free flexi-day so you have the choice of activity to suit your mood. DAY 8 Paris to Burgundy to Swiss Alps (Switzerland)

Today we say au revoir Paris, as we travel through beautiful France to the famous wine region of Burgundy. Spend free-time in the picture-perfect walled town of Beaune. Wander the cobbled streets of this incredible tiny medieval town, enjoy some wine tasting and perhaps try delicious fresh French cuisine, explore the Roman Ramparts or visit the wonderful Hospices de Beaune.

After lunch, we take a scenic drive across the border into Switzerland and head towards the spectacular Swiss Alps for our stay in a picture-postcard mountain village right in the heart of the Jungfrau region. This World Heritage site contains Europe's largest glacier and is understandably one of the most popular regions of the Alps. Inhale the crisp clear mountain air.

DAY 9 Explore the Swiss Alps

Choose how you’d like to experience the majesty of the Swiss Alps with a selection of activities on offer. Highly recommended is the incredible mountain train journey to Jungfraujoch, the highest train station in Europe - it’s simply breath-taking all the way up. If the journey to the top wasn’t enough, at 3.5km above sea level, the destination is considered ‘the top of Europe’, with majestic vistas of ice, snow and rock that are truly breathtaking. See the utterly enormous glacier and enjoy the year-round snowy conditions. You’ll treasure this experience forever.

Today is a free flexi-day so you have the choice of activity to suit your interest. You can explore Wilderswil and its fascinating attractions yourself at your own pace or choose an optional activity like the (highly recommended) Train to Jungfraujoch ($348) or a Swiss Fondue Dinner ($83). DAY 10 Switzerland to Rhine Valley (Germany)

Today we travel through the dramatic Swiss landscape into Germany. Journey through the German heartland to the Rhine Valley famous for its medieval castles perched high above the river and steep fields of wine-producing grapes. The Rhine Valley’s soaring clifftop fortresses and near vertical terraced vineyards have inspired fables, fairy tales, paintings and poetry for centuries. Float atop the mythical waters of the Rhine River as you meander your way amidst some of Germany’s most evocative landscapes; medieval castles and quaint half-timbered villages with their idyllic gothic church steeples materialising around every riverbend.

Relax on board a splendid Rhine riverboat as we cruise past the most concentrated stretch of castles in all of Europe, expansive vineyards, charming medieval towns and lofty cliffs. Learn the curious story of the castles, most built by a mafia of local robber barons, knights and princes.

We then enjoy wines from some of the world’s oldest vineyards at a special local wine tasting, including of course Riesling and perhaps even the rare eiswein (ice wine) dessert wine. Enjoy dinner tonight.

DAY 11 Rhine Valley to Amsterdam (Netherlands)

We leave Germany behind and journey into Holland. Our first stop is at an historic polder drainage windmill built in 1636. Famous for cheeses like Gouda, Edam, Maasdam and Boerenkaas, you’ll savour a visit to a Dutch cheesemaker. Learn all about the quirky clog and its cultural significance from a clog maker. In Amsterdam, we experience a scenic cruise through the remarkable canals. You’ll discover that the story of Amsterdam is intimately connected with water and its 165 canals, which are now world heritage listed. Amsterdam was reclaimed from the sea making the canals and harbour cruise the best way to experience many of the city’s highlights.

Tonight, enjoy a special dinner in vibrant Amsterdam, featuring Dutch cuisine with local delicacies.

DAY 12 Amsterdam to Bruges (Belgium) to London (United Kingdom)

Say farewell to the Netherlands and make our way to Belgium, and the fairy-tale town of Bruges. This is one of Europe's best-preserved medieval cities. Picturesque cobbled lanes and dreamy canals link photogenic market squares lined with soaring towers, historical churches and lane after lane of old whitewashed almshouses. Famous for its beer, waffles, chocolate and moules et frites there is plenty to tempt you here. Enjoy time to explore Bruges and experience the fairy-tale cobblestone streets, historic old churches and lofty towers.

We continue on towards the English Channel and back into the United Kingdom and London.

Time to say farewell to your fellow travellers and friendly tour hosts as your grand tour through 6 enchanting Western European countries draws to an end.
