DAY 1 Fly to Broome

Broome is the western gateway to the spectacular Kimberley region. This historic pearling town sits on the western edge of the vast and remote Kimberley region and is the largest town in Australia's ruggedly beautiful north west. Broome exudes a laid back ambience and is home to several historic buildings including The Sun Picture Theatre which is the world's oldest operational open-air theatre.

DAY 2 Broome Town Tour

DAY 4 Board Kimberley Quest II & Sail from Broome to Cape Leveque

The remote and beautiful Kimberley coast offers some of the most impressive views Australia has to offer, the majestic King George Falls, the world famous Horizontal Falls, remarkable Montgomery Reef and vast open bays stretching as far as the eye can see, marvel at dramatic outback landscapes that are steeped in ancient Aboriginal legend.

Today you will be personally met at your hotel and transferred to Broome Wharf to begin your cruise. Board the Kimberley Quest II for the start of your 10 day cruise of Western Australia’s spectacular Kimberley region. This evening enjoy a drink and a magnificent sunset as we cruise past Cable Beach.

DAY 5 Buccaneer Archipelago, Dugong Bay, Horizontal Falls & Talbot Bay

Enjoy a delicious breakfast and take in your first taste of the Kimberley as we cross the vast King Sound and cruise through the thousand islands of the Buccaneer Archipelago - a remote and rugged paradise graced with pristine turquoise waters, stunning rock formations, and a sense of untouched wilderness that awakens the explorer's spirit. Indulge in a swim in the magnificent freshwater pools of Dugong Bay as well as a scenic tender excursion before visiting Talbot Bay, home of the iconic Horizontal Falls.

A true icon of the Kimberley Coast, Horizontal Falls elicits a rush of exhilaration as you witness the sheer power and mesmerising beauty of the tidal currents gushing through narrow gorges. Take an exhilarating ride through this natural phenomenon, once described as “one of the greatest natural wonders of the world” by Sir David Attenborough, before taking another excursion along Cyclone Creek to view the amazing rock formations.

DAY 6 Collier Bay, Montgomery Reef & Red Cone Creek

Enjoy a morning of Barramundi fishing in Collier Bay before cruising to the magical Montgomery Reef. Australia’s largest inshore reef covering more than 300 square kilometres, Montgomery Reef reveals a hidden world of cascading waterfalls and vibrant marine life. Watch the amazing waterfall effect and the reef rising out of the water as the tide falls right before your eyes. A symphony of rushing water unveils a mesmerising sight: a sprawling flat-topped reef adorned with enchanting rock pools and meandering rivulets. Take a ride in the tenders keeping an eye out for the abundant marine species such as sea birds and turtles.

Later, try your hand at mud-crabbing - a time honoured Kimberley tradition, or enjoy an excursion to Red Cone Creek and the enchanting Ruby Falls. Carved through towering rock formations, this creek unveils an enthralling landscape, where stacked building blocks of stone create a playground for the adventurous souls. Perhaps climb and conquer the natural walls and enjoy a swim in the freshwater swimming holes and waterfalls along the way.

DAY 7 Doubtful Bay, Sale River & Raft Point

This morning, fish for Barramundi and Threadfin Salmon in Doubtful Bay before exploring the Sale River. Take an excursion upstream for a dip in the spring-fed forest pools and marvel at the fascinating rock art from the tenders. Then visit Steep Island - anchoring below Raft point as we prepare to walk to the caves perched on the hill. Here, ancient Wandjina rock art galleries await, a window into the souls of the Worrora people - custodians of this sacred land. Wander through the galleries, where artistic masterpieces breathe life into the rocks, each stroke telling a tale that transcends time. Admire some of the best preserved rock art in the Kimberley and take in panoramic views of the Kimberley coastline from the top of the hill.

DAY 8 Kuri Bay & Camden Harbour

Prepare to be swept away by the beauty and history that unfolds before you as we glide past the picturesque Augustus Island and the remote pearling settlement of Kuri Bay. Feel the weight of history settle as we arrive at Camden Harbour - where the forlorn settler's graves on Sheep Island tell tales of resilience and struggle in the early days of European settlement.

In the afternoon, enjoy a choice of activities. Embrace the spirit of adventure on a tender excursion, try your hand at fishing, or delve into the age-old tradition of collecting rock oysters before relaxing on the sun deck taking in the magnificent scenery of the vast and intoxicating Kimberley coastline.

DAY 9 Prince Regent River, Kings Cascade & Cathedral Falls

Enjoy an early morning cruise through St George Basin and take in spectacular views of Mt Trafalgar and Mt Waterloo as you cruise along the Prince Regent River - a pristine waterway that cuts through breathtaking sandstone cliffs and gorges. Visit the mighty spring fed Kings Cascade waterfalls, a hidden gem in the heart of the wilderness. Witness the wondrous spectacle of water cascading down each breathtaking tier, embraced by lush ferns and teeming with life. Take a swim in a crystal clear pool above the falls and inhale the resplendent view of the Prince Regent River. Later choose between an excursion to Cathedral Falls - keeping an eye out for crocodiles and flying foxes on our way to this cascading wonder, or another day of fishing for Threadfin Salmon and huge Barramundi.

DAY 10 Prince Regent River, Camp Creek & Careening Bay

Wake early this morning for your last chance to catch a Barra in the Prince Regent River. Visit enchanting Camp Creek, a waterway adorned with weeping paperbarks that seem to whisper secrets of the land. Find solace in the serene beauty that surrounds you as you embark on a walk to the top of the falls. When you reach the summit, a breathtaking view awaits. Take a refreshing dip in the irresistible waters, feeling at one with your resplendent natural surrounds.

This afternoon, cruise out of Prince Regent River and visit Careening Bay. Here, Lt. Phillip Parker King sought refuge for his vessel, the HMC Mermaid. Stranded for 17 days, the ship's carpenter etched "HMC Mermaid 1820" into the bottle-shaped trunk of a boab tree near the beach. This remarkable tree, now listed on the National Register of Big Trees still retains the carpenter's inscription.

As the sun begins its descent, enjoy a spectacular Kimberley sunset as we cruise across Prince Frederick Harbour towards the Hunter River.

DAY 11 Hunter River, Mitchell Falls Scenic Helicopter Flight & Kimberley Coast Scenic Flight

This morning we embrace the final day of our incredible journey as we embark on a soul-stirring expedition through the majestic Hunter River. Board the tenders, where you can bask in the breathtaking scenery while spotting ancient rock art, awe-inspiring crocodiles, and graceful flying foxes. As we soak in the vibrant flora and fauna of the Kimberley, let the beauty of this pristine wilderness etch itself into your soul.

Bidding farewell to the Kimberley Quest II, we board a helicopter for an exhilarating scenic flight over the staggering spectacle of the Mitchell Falls. A mesmerising natural wonder, see powerful cascades of water plunge down ancient red rock gorges into crystalline pools, harmonising with the surrounding landscapes to create a truly ethereal scene. From the Mitchell Plateau airstrip, the adventure continues as you board a light aircraft, immersing yourself in the vastness and grandeur of the Kimberley from above.

As the sun sets over this spellbinding land, we return to Broome, the place where our extraordinary journey began. Once in Broome, you will be transferred to your Broome hotel.

DAY 12 Say Goodbye to Broome

Say goodbye to the Kimberley today as your 12 day adventure comes to an end. You will be personally met at your hotel by a DISCOVER AUSTRALIA representative and transferred from your hotel to the airport for your flight home.

Airport & Port Transfers Included

You will be transferred from the airport on arrival in Broome to your Broome hotel. You will also be transferred from your Broome hotel to the port to board your Kimberley cruise. On arrival at the Mitchell Plateau you will be transferred from the vessel by helicopter to your light aircraft for your scenic Kimberley coastal flight back to Broome and transferred to your Broome hotel. You will also be transferred from your Broome hotel to Broome Airport for your flight home.

The Kimberley Quest II has been designed for relaxing and exploring the Kimberley coastline in complete comfort and style.

Your custom-built vessel is fully air-conditioned, equipped with a helipad, spa, large en-suited cabins and offers indoor and outdoor alfresco areas so there will always be plenty of room to take in the panoramic scenery and breathtaking sunsets.
