DAY 1 Fly to Perth

Feel the great expansive openness of the West Coast with its big blue skies and its ever developing but still youthful capital city of Perth. You will be personally met at the airport by a DISCOVER AUSTRALIA representative and transferred from the airport to your hotel. You can relax and use the rest of the day to explore your hotel and its facilities, perhaps take a stroll around the neighbourhood and central Perth.

DAY 2 Pinnacles Desert & New Norcia

Lying in the Nambung National Park, the Pinnacles are a breathtaking wonder of nature. These amazing, natural limestone structures hold an exquisite air of mysticism and intrigue, especially as the sun's warm hue illuminates the magical stones. The gorgeous town of New Norcia is renowned for its wonderful Spanish architecture and unique history. Founded by Spanish Benedictine monks in 1847, New Norcia's quaint streets are full of heritage listed buildings, including the beguiling Monastery, where you can still join the monks for prayer. The Western Australian landscape explodes in a kaleidoscope of colour and beauty as thousands of magnificent wildflowers bloom in a spectacular seasonal show of nature at its most breathtaking.

Today we combine the amazing natural wonder of the Pinnacles Desert with the unique living history of the 170 year old Spanish Benedictine enclave of New Norcia. See Guildford and the fertile Swan Valley enroute to New Norcia for a special guided tour of Australia's only monastic town, including the monk's shop for some famous New Norcia nut cake and breads. Witness magnificent displays of native wildflowers between August and October and enjoy a gentle stroll through the mystical limestone pillars of the Pinnacles Desert.

Tour north through the historic and charming township of Guildford, onto the verdant Swan Valley (Western Australia's first wine growing region) and stop at New Norcia for a special private guided tour, including buildings not accessible to the public. See New Norcia Museum and Art Gallery, New Norcia Abbey and St Gertrude's College, a grand gothic style building which opened in 1908. Visit the Benedictine Community produce shop for the chance to purchase hand crafted goods including olive oil, fruit, wine, New Norcia nut cake and breads.

Enjoy a delicious picnic style fish and chips lunch before venturing into the Nambung National Park, a landscape of coastal dunes, beautiful beaches and rich in flowering plants and home to western grey kangaroos. View the Pinnacles from the lookout or take a stroll through part of the Desert, containing thousands of limestone Pinnacles, some up to 5 metres high and see these remarkable and mystical geological features close up. If time permits, visit the Pinnacle Desert Discovery Centre to learn about these natural wonders. Head back to Perth along the scenic Indian Ocean Drive with your camera full of remarkable images of today's great adventure.

DAY 3 Perth “Welcome” Tour with Fremantle

Perth is a vibrant and cosmopolitan city with a wealth of interesting and exciting attractions, the city is alive with lively bars, cafes and restaurants, there are great shopping, historic and cultural opportunities, Perth is blessed with an abundance of stunning natural surrounds including beautiful white sand beaches and the shimmering Indian Ocean.

Let us show you the sights of our beautiful city of Perth to get your bearings and benefit from the informative commentary. It's a true welcome to Perth. This 3.5 hour tour takes in most of the city's major attractions plus takes you to South Perth across the Swan River and along Perth beaches.

DAY 4 Tour from Perth to Margaret River

Today we start our small-group gourmet tour to the magnificent Margaret River region. Busselton is one of Western Australia's favourite getaways, the town is famous for its 1.8 km jetty and is the gateway to the sensational Margaret River wine region, the vibrant main street is home to a cosmopolitan vibe with lively outdoor restaurants, cafes and pubs - great beaches and calm waters make Busselton perfect for fishing, swimming and snorkelling.

Drive south from Perth stopping at Mandurah for a coffee break on the foreshore. We pause in Bunbury to witness some stunning hand-crafted furniture and artwork at a local wood gallery and be regaled with stories of the local timber and logging industry which has shaped the Southwest. A delicious lunch awaits at a favourite local eatery in Busselton and we take a leisurely walk along the magnificent Busselton Jetty - the longest timber-piled jetty in the Southern Hemisphere. The renowned Margaret River Chocolate Co. then invites us into a magical world of freshly made chocolate. Sample their deliciously sweet creations as you browse delectable hand made chocolate truffles and chocolate of all varieties - or simply relax at the cafe with a delicious barista made afternoon coffee or a rich and deeply satisfying hot chocolate.

This afternoon, we delight in seeing mobs of Western Grey Kangaroos in their natural environment and meet Neil’s friendly horses at the Mcleod Family Farm. The first day of our Margaret River escape draws to a close with a leisurely drive to the coast to witness dazzling views of Margaret River’s pristine beaches and world class surf breaks.

DAY 5 Explore Margaret River

Margaret River is famous for its sensational wineries producing world-class wines - with the wider region offering incredible fresh produce and delicacies ranging from delicious truffles to mouth watering crayfish. Blessed with an abundance of natural beauty including rugged coastline, great beaches, green rolling hills and towering forests – today will be an unforgettable journey through the captivating landscapes of Margaret River.

We kick start the day with a glorious breakfast at a popular local cafe overlooking Gnarabup beach. From here we set off on an underground adventure through Mammoth Cave - one of more than 200 known caves in the region, from Cape Naturaliste in the north to Cape Leeuwin in the south – Mammoth cave discloses remains of megafauna that have stood witness for over fifty thousand years. A drive through the striking Boranup Karri Forest on our way to the Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse will take your breath away - where trees soar to heights exceeding 65 metres. Admire the remnants of an old timber-exporting jetty and marvel at the famed friendly stingrays gliding through the azure waters at Hamelin Bay. The sweet coastal town of Augusta welcomes us with views of the Blackwood River - to discover the historic Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse – a remarkable landmark where we can witness the Southern Ocean and Indian Ocean converge. Delve into the history of the tallest lighthouse on mainland Australia with a guided tour, offering insights into the lives of the lighthouse keepers at this once rugged outpost.

Amidst these wonders, we pause for a delicious lunch before we savour the flavours of the region with a visit to either Redgate or Brown Hill winery, both family-owned, to sample their award-winning wines. We conclude our day with a leisurely stroll through the Margaret River Town Centre - a charming interlude for shopping along the main street, perhaps finding the perfect memento to carry the spirit of this journey back home.

In the evening, after tasting and sipping our way around the Margaret River region, we have the evening at leisure.

DAY 6 Tour from Margaret River Back to Perth

Today we embark on a sensory and culinary voyage through the heart of Margaret River, starting our morning with a sumptuous buffet breakfast at a local restaurant.

Delve into the world of coffee at Yahava Koffee Works. The good people at Yahava are passionate about coffee, they will take us through a tasting of their range of globally sourced and in-house roasted beans. Our enticing journey continues with a visit to either Redgate or Brown Hill winery, renowned for their award-winning wines. Indulge in a unique cheese and wine pairing experience at our second winery today - curated to enhance the flavours of Camembert and Smoked and Vintage Cheddars from the Margaret River Dairy Co. The afternoon unfolds at Olio Bello, where the subtle notes of extra virgin olive oil take centre stage, accompanied by a delectable lunch and a glass of local beer or wine. It is time to farewell the magical Margaret River region as we begin our return journey to Perth, punctuated by leisurely stops to stretch and savour a coffee, carrying the essence of Margaret River's culinary treasures with you.

DAY 7 Rottnest Discovery

Rottnest Island is a wonderland of white sand beaches, pristine coral bays, stunning scenery and is a haven for wildlife.
