Seville is Spain at its most iconic - from the whitewashed houses and bougainvillea alleyways of Santa Cruz to the intimate flamenco clubs of charismatic Triana; where orange trees line the streets, sun dapples the plazas and bustling tapas bars abound. The Gothic Seville Cathedral with its famed Giralda bell tower overlook the city’s historic centre; a seductive mix of resplendent Mudéjar palaces and winding medieval laneways. Perhaps admire the spectacular Gothic Cathedral at Saint Mary of the Sea, before exploring the charming streets and patios of the historic Jewish Quarter. Barcelona's architectural treasures span 2000-plus years, but many of its more modern additions are it’s most famous. DAY 18 Explore Athens (Piraeus, Greece)

Athens is an alluring mix of ancient history and contemporary cool. A blend of grandeur and grunge, where some of Europe’s coolest street art sits side by side the ancient 5th-century BC landmarks. Athens is a vibrant and fascinating city, the birth place of democracy and home to mythology, drama and philosophy At its centre, a mesmerizing ancient Acropolis rises up amidst the surrounding layers of modernity; serving as an ever-present reminder of the city’s momentous legacy.

The magnificent Acropolis, visible from almost every part of the city, is the hub around which Athens still revolves. All over the city, rooftops and balconies angle toward the landmark - pull up your own chair, settle in and allow time to appreciate the Acropolis' many moods. A visit to the Acropolis is also a must - climb to the top of Acropolis Hill to the magnificent Parthenon, explore the Temples of Athena Nike, and Erechtheion, then visit the outstanding Acropolis Museum with its display of jaw-dropping archaeological finds. Explore the historical quarter of Pláka, (‘neighbourhood of the Gods’) wandering through its captivating maze of old streets, nestled around foothills of the Acropolis.

Creative energy abounds in the city, through it’s renowned street art, art shows and music where creative surprises lie around nearly every corner. There is so much to tempt you, from the Monastiraki area (packed with rooftop bars, ancient sights and huge markets), the bustling market of Varvakios Agora, the 40 acres at Tropical Gardens, the National Museum of Contemporary Art, Museum of Cycladic Art, Erechtheion, National Archaeological Museum, Temple of Hephaestus, Museum of Cycladic Art, Temple of Athena Nike, Plaka, Temple of Olympian Zeus, Benaki Museum, Ancient Agora of Athens, Museum of the Ancient Agora, Mount Lycabettus, Odeon of Herodes Atticus and Philopappos Monument. DAY 20-21 Suez Canal (Transit, Egypt)

Cruising Egypt’s celebrated triumph of engineering is an experience of a lifetime, the Suez Canal stretches some 163km to link the Mediterranean to the Red Sea and forms an integral part of the Silk Road that connects Europe with Asia. Admire the gorgeous canalside cities which speak to the former grandeur of Egypt’s belle époque era; their distinctive architecture rising up above the desert plains as canalside life unfolds at a peaceful pace.

For two days, admire the spectacular scenery while sailing along the sea-level waterway. To the west of the Suez Canal is the Nile Delta, awash in foliage, while to the east you’ll see the arid landscape of the Sinai Peninsula. Egypt boasts many of the world’s most remarkable treasures from the mighty river Nile and its lush delta, to the ancient pyramids and monuments honouring the great Pharaohs and early civilization to sparkling beaches fringed by tropical coral reefs. Discover an alluring rich culture full of ancient stories. Wander the vibrant colourful bazaar souks; be inspired by ancient fortresses, mosques and prehistoric rock art; and feel the warm hospitality of the Egyptian people. Today you could witness the grand Nile, explore Luxor, pay respect to ancient Thebes or discover the trendy holiday hot-spot of Hurghada. Perhaps simply relax in laid-back Safaga set on the coral filled waters of the Red Sea.

Luxor’s setting is breathtakingly beautiful, with the awe-inspiring Nile flowing between the modern city and ancient west-bank. DAY 23 Explore Jordan (Aqaba and Petra)

A fascinating land of vast desert scenery, captivating historical sites and pretty seaside resort towns, Jordan has been welcoming travellers for centuries. Dotted with Roman amphitheatres, Crusader castles and colourful Christian mosaics, the undisputed jewel in the crown of this quintessential Middle Eastern destination is the ancient Nabataean city of Petra, an incredible spectacle carved into the pink hued sandstone of a narrow desert valley back in 300 B. C.

Jordan’s exotic beachside town of Aqaba glories in an idyllic, sunny setting on the shores of the Red Sea, at the country’s southernmost tip. It has been an important trading port since 1500 BC and has some of the best diving and snorkelling in the world centred on the unspoiled coral reefs that hug the coast.

Perhaps experience the ancient city of Petra - one of the most spectacular archaeological sites in the world - half-built, half-carved into rock and surrounded by mountains riddled with passages and gorges. Dating back to 300 BC, it’s located between the Dead Sea and Red Sea. Known as “Rose City” and due to the pink sandstone cliffs it was hidden for centuries until it was rediscovered in 1812.
