DAYS 1-4 Indian Pacific Sydney to Adelaide to Perth

Fly into Sydney and be personally met at the airport by a DISCOVER AUSTRALIA representative and transferred from the airport to the Indian Pacific railway station to begin your journey to Perth.

Your epic journey from Sydney to Perth takes you along the longest stretch of straight railway track in the world, it's a journey of contrast encompassing some of Australia's most beautiful and diverse landscapes including the magnificent Blue Mountains and the vast empty expanse of the Nullarbor Plain.

As the Indian Pacific arrives into Perth on day 4, you can sense the laid-back pace of this beautiful city fringed between the Indian Ocean and Swan River. You will be transferred from the railway station on arrival in Perth to your hotel. You can relax and use the rest of the day to explore your hotel and its facilities, perhaps take a stroll around the neighbourhood and central Perth.

DAY 5 Explore Perth and Fremantle

The beautiful city of Perth is fringed by the Indian Ocean and the Swan River. It has spectacular beaches, a friendly welcoming ambience and a laid back lifestyle dominated by its seemingly perpetual sunny climes. Chic and stylish, Perth effortlessly combines this beach-outdoor lifestyle with its modern, urban big-city feel. You'll marvel at the spectacular cityscapes from beautiful Kings Park, and enjoy the balmy waters of the Indian Ocean at the world-famous Cottesloe beach. Fremantle's historic colonial streets pulsate with the energy of street-performers and buskers, couples walk hand-in-hand through its colourful and lively markets. The lively street cafes and restaurants along its famous 'cappuccino strip' are perfect resting places to indulge in a spot of people watching.

Today you will see Perth City, the famous WACA (Western Australia cricket ground), impressive Swan Bell Tower, Perth Town Hall, St Georges Terrace (hub of Australia's minerals and energy industries), Barrack Street Jetty, Perth Mint (working gold mint, stunning sandstone colonial architecture), Old Swan Brewery and Royal Perth Yacht Club (once home to the America's Cup). Stop at magnificent Kings Park for spectacular views over Perth skyline, Swan River and Melville Water. Walk through the tree canopies on the Tree Top Walk see the 750-year-old boab tree. See famous Cottesloe Beach and the Indian Ocean sunset coastline. Tour Fremantle (historic large working port docks, rich convict history, glorious alfresco outdoor dining, marinas, charming heritage sandstone buildings, modern ocean racing yachts, colonial terraced houses, museums and galleries). Enjoy some free time in Fremantle to explore the colourful streets for yourself, perhaps enjoy a coffee on South Terrace's Cappucino Strip or indulge in some shopping in the many unique shops or find a bargain at the weekend markets. On our way back to Perth City we see some of Australia's most expensive real-estate at the upmarket Swan River suburbs of Peppermint Grove and Dalkeith. Time this afternoon to explore more of Perth on your own.

DAY 6 Perth to Albany

Today we experience the coastal scenery and beautiful surrounds of Albany, jagged granite outcrops, giant forests and magnificent National Parks, the ocean offers excellent fishing, diving and whale watching opportunities, we immerse ourselves in Albany's proud and emotive history on a visit to the National ANZAC Centre which honours the memory and sacrifice of the WWI ANZACS.

Travel South towards Albany and pass the Stirling Ranges and Porongorups. Enjoy a special winery lunch with wine tasting before continuing to Mount Clarence and the ANZAC Memorial Centre. Enjoy a self guided tour of the ANZAC Centre before taking a scenic drive along the rugged coastline.

DAY 7 Tour from Albany to Pemberton Region

Our journey today takes us through some of Western Australia’s most stunning landscapes, winding through a world of towering karri and tingle forests, their majestic trunks stretching skyward and creating a dappled play of light on the path before us. The Valley of the Giants Tree Top Walk, where you can stroll among the tallest of treetops and immerse yourself in the canopy alive with a myriad of wildlife. Rolling Hills and serene pastures then give way again to the mighty emerald forests as we reach our destination for today nestled in the heart of Pemberton’s karri country.

After breakfast, we venture into Torndirrup National Park to witness the awesome power of the Southern Ocean as it pounds against the granite coastal cliffs exploding into the The Gap in a momentous spray of water and mist. Step out on to the viewing platform which will suspend you over the edge of the abyss for an unparalleled perspective of the rugged coastline. Here, you can also admire the Natural Bridge, an immense rock arch which resembles a bridge suspended above the crashing waves, a testament to nature’s artistry and power. We then visit Albany’s Historic Whaling Station at Discovery Bay for a self-guided tour.

We farewell Albany and journey on to Walpole where we join our local guide for a lunch cruise along the pristine Nornalup Inlet, widely regarded as one of the last great wilderness areas. Next, we will visit the famous Tree Top Walk in the Valley of the Giants which reaches 40 metres high into the forest canopy before relaxing on our scenic drive towards to our Pemberton region accommodation for the night.

DAY 8 Tour from Pemberton to Margaret River Region

Enjoy a short stroll to the majestic Beedelup Falls this morning, hidden amongst the magnificent karri forest before heading North through the Blackwood Forest. Tour to Australia’s most south westerly point, Augusta and visit the Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse where the Indian Ocean meets the Southern Ocean. After lunch, enjoy a drive through the resplendent Boranup Forest on your way to Mammoth Cave where you embark on a guided tour. We then enjoy some free time in the township of Margaret River to explore the quaint shops along the main street.

Our journey continues towards Busselton where we visit the Busselton Jetty, the longest wooden jetty in the Southern Hemisphere before we settle into our accommodation late afternoon with time to explore the local surroundings.

DAY 9 Tour from Margaret River Region to Perth

Following breakfast, we take a short drive to the charming town of Cowaramup, renowned for the many cow statues which have taken over the town. We explore local chocolate and gourmet produce outlets to delight in some of their delicious samples, also pausing to indulge in a wine tasting of locally produced wine. Lunch is then served with beer and cider tastings at a local brewery. After lunch, travel to Canal Rocks to see the dramatic coastline where the ocean has created natural canals in the stunning granite outcrop before a leisurely drive back to Perth.

DAY 10 Swan River Cruise with Special Lunch

The stunning Swan River meanders its way through the beautiful city of Perth, this scenic and vibrant waterway is the city's beating heart. Perth's residents make the most of this wonderful waterway, families picnic on its banks, joggers and cyclists follow its course and boats bob gently on its shimmering waters under endless blue skies. The Swan River is the perfect spot from which to view the wonderful cityscape of Perth, its northern waters lead to the stunning Swan Valley, Western Australia's world-renowned wine producing region and westward the river leads to the historic and charming city of Fremantle and the azure Indian Ocean.

Today experience a scenic cruise to Fremantle and the Indian Ocean whilst enjoying your Special Buffet Lunch. See the city skyline, Kings Park, millionaire's row, giant sand spit and the bustling historic port of Fremantle. Choose from a selection of wines or beer available to purchase from the bar to accompany your delicious Special Lunch and enjoy morning tea.

You are transferred to beautiful Barrack Street Jetty in the heart of the city, see the building work of the massive new riverfront Elizabeth Quay, named in honour of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. Set sail on your large stable vessel for today's river cruise. Enjoy spectacular views as you cruise the calm waters between Perth and Fremantle. Your Captain will point out the many sights, including Perth's impressive Bell Tower, Kings Park, the restored old Swan Brewery, Royal Perth Yacht Club, many magnificent homes overlooking the river and Fremantle's busy inner harbour. You will learn about Perth's rich history (and about some of its more notorious individuals). Tea and coffee is served in the morning. Your delicious Special Buffet Lunch is taken onboard looking out over million dollar river views. It includes hot dishes, continental meats, fresh local prawns and mixed variety of gourmet salads all followed by cake and dessert. DAY 11 Rottnest Island Quokka Day

Rottnest Island is a wonderland of white sand beaches, pristine coral bays, stunning scenery and is a haven for wildlife. Interact with super cute quokkas, the happiest animals on earth, perhaps join the quokka selfie craze. Spot for dolphins, whales, seals and other plentiful marine life. Discover the flora unique to this island. Wander through the historic settlement, perhaps walk the Wadjemup Trail, hire a cycle or simply enjoy a swim and relax at a choice of 63 beaches and 20 secluded bays. It’s easy to see why ‘Rotto’ is so popular.

Enjoy a cruise from Perth’s new waterfront precinct at Elizabeth Quay along the sparkling Swan River to take in the wonderful sights that can only be viewed on this cruise to the historic port town of Fremantle and then across the Indian Ocean to Rottnest Island.
