Here we'll encounter London at its most authentic, where every step reveals the captivating stories of this historically significant and increasingly cool neighbourhood. The tales heard here are not of kings and castles, but of the ordinary people who made the East End extraordinary – the cockneys, barrow-boys and waves of immigrants. We stroll along the gritty cobbled streets that weave dramatic stories of infamous characters from centuries past. We reveal narrow backstreets that share their secrets, we witness the boundless creativity of contemporary East Enders in the colourful street art and discover Brick Lane. Explore a historic tavern and converted hipster markets where eclectic stalls boast exquisite handmade art, vintage fashion gems, unique jewellery and delectable street food. We hear of the infamous Victorian murder mysteries, learn of the legendary music hall stars, discover tales of gangster life and witness the diverse cultural treasures brought by immigrants seeking a new life. DAY 5 London – Flanders Western Front (Belgium)

Today we make our way to the English Channel and the white cliffs of Dover for a crossing to France. We journey through the French countryside to Belgium and the famous WWI Western Front region of Flanders. Straddling the borders of present-day France and Belgium, Flanders is home to the significant Western Front battlefields that shaped the world during the Great War. Flanders has altered the course of history from the 1066 Norman invasion and Henry V’s victory at Agincourt to the beaches of the famous Dunkirk WWII evacuation. The deeply moving Western Front offers a profound connection to our ANZAC history, set against the serene and picturesque landscapes of modern-day Flanders.

Our first stop is the incredible Passchendaele Museum near Zonnebeke that honours the memory of the 1917 Battle of Passchendaele, where the Great War comes alive through the powerful stories of heroism and sacrifice. Learn about the vital role played by Australians in key battles that enabled important tactical victories.

We then continue through the battlefields to the Tyne Cot WW1 Commonwealth Cemetery - the largest cemetery for Commonwealth forces in the world. This solemn memorial setting holds great significance for many Australians. Take time here to reflect at this profoundly moving place.

DAY 6 Flanders region to Bruges to Amsterdam (Netherlands)

Our journey today continues through the scenic Flemish countryside with rolling fields, idyllic small villages and sprawling farmland paving our way to the fairy-tale town of Bruges. This is one of Europe's best-preserved medieval cities. Picturesque cobbled lanes and dreamy canals link photogenic market squares lined with soaring towers, historical churches and lane after lane of old whitewashed almshouses. Famous for its beer, waffles, chocolate and moules et frites there is plenty to tempt you here. Enjoy time to explore Bruges and experience the fairy-tale cobblestone streets, historic old churches and lofty towers.

We then leave Belgium behind and journey into Holland and its famous bohemian capital, Amsterdam. You’ll know you’ve arrived in Amsterdam, with its rainbow of ornate, pastel coloured canal houses that cascade down to meet the arched bridges and elaborate waterways of one of the world's most aesthetic and offbeat metropolises. This afternoon we delight in a scenic cruise through the remarkable canals. You’ll discover that the story of Amsterdam is intimately connected with water and its 165 canals, which are now world heritage listed. Amsterdam was reclaimed from the sea making the canals and harbour cruise the best way to experience many of the city’s highlights.

After your cruise you have some free time to explore Amsterdam. It has a stunning canal district with an incredible dining scene with an endless list of restaurants and cafes, with hundreds of museums.

DAY 7 Explore Amsterdam

Choose how you’d like to experience bohemian Amsterdam today with a selection of activities on offer. Perhaps venture off to explore Holland's 700-year-old capital that is both sophisticated and modern. Maybe visit the enchanting old town and trend-setting new parts. You’ll never know what you’ll find around the corner in this fascinating city, built around magnificent canals and atmospheric narrow lanes – and with more push-bikes than people. You also have the option of joining a tour of the Dutch countryside. DAY 8 Amsterdam to Cologne (Germany) to Frankfurt

We leave Holland behind and tour through Germany to Cologne, a medieval German city that beckons with its captivating blend of historic grandeur and modern vibrancy along with a liberal laidback lifestyle and a longstanding unique beer culture (home of the Kölsch). Originally settled by the Romans, the jaw-dropping twin spires of the Cologne Cathedral dominate the skyline casting a timeless shadow over a city steeped in charm. Along the Rhine promenade, the fragrance of blooming gardens mingle with the ambiance of outdoor cafes and lively street performers. Cologne's rich cultural scene, from avant-garde art galleries to the iconic Ludwig Museum, exudes an atmosphere of creative inspiration against the backdrop of its historic architecture. This is the home of Cologne perfume fragrances and is an irresistible destination where the spirit of the past dances gracefully with the rhythms of contemporary city life. Charming Boppard is a sun spoiled resort town nestled on a horseshoe bend of the Rhine River. DAY 9 Frankfurt region to Bavaria to Nuremberg

This morning we step into a fairy-tale in the heart of Bavaria, where cobblestone streets, half-timbered houses and medieval charm transport you to a magical world of Rothenburg ob der Tauber. We enjoy free time in this hidden-gem with the opportunity to wander along the well-preserved city walls, savour traditional Franconian cuisine, and immerse ourselves in the timeless beauty of this enchanting medieval town. Perhaps explore the iconic Plönlein, discover the year-round Christmas Village, or enjoy breathtaking views from the Röderturm. Rothenburg promises to entrance you with its spell. A special lunch experience awaits at a charming local German restaurant, where we savour authentic flavours and immerse ourselves in the rich culinary traditions of the region.

We then travel through Bavaria to Nuremberg, with incredible architecture, painstakingly restored using original stone after the bombings of the Second World War. DAY 10 Nuremberg to Pilsen (Czech Republic) to Prague

Today we continue on through the old iron curtain to the Czech Republic and the historic craft brewing city of Pilsen. The Czech Republic is at the very heart of Europe, a fascinating confluence of worlds. Here, cutting edge cosmopolitan culture greets perpetually thriving folkloric tradition as remnants of Germanic West and Slavic East unite in inimitable style.

Designated as a ‘City of Gastronomy’ the vibrant city of Pilsen offers a perfect blend of history, culture, and flavour. Here we enjoy some free time to explore lively squares filled with colourful architecture or perhaps delve into the city’s proud brewing heritage at the birthplace of Pilsner beer - all the while uncovering centuries-old traditions. The Gothic cathedral and fascinating museums provide a window into the past, while the bustling streets invite us to soak in the energy of modern life. Today we leave the Czech Republic to cross the border into Austria and its capital Vienna. Today we leave Austria and head to Slovakia, to visit its capital Bratislava. We relish some free time here to explore this medieval and Gothic city, including the chance to discover the famous Bratislava Castle, high on the hill or to unveil the alluring pedestrian old town - a mosaic of winding cobbled streets adorned with medieval and gothic churches, baroque palaces and quirky cafes. Charm abounds in this intriguing city, set on the banks of the majestic Danube River.

We say farewell to Slovakia and continue to Hungary and to its spectacular imperial capital of Budapest – the grand city on the Danube. It has something for everyone – from dramatic history and flamboyant architecture to healing thermal waters and a vibrant cultural scene that is unrivalled in eastern Europe. The towns of Buda and Pest on either side of the Danube became a single city in 1873 and is now one of Europe's most important cities. Architecturally, the city is a treasure trove, with baroque, neoclassical, eclectic and art nouveau buildings in abundance. Testament to the city’s cool urban vibe is its unique ‘ruin bars’, where dilapidated buildings have been reinvented into quirky watering holes complete with reclaimed furniture mixed with modern local art. Today we continue our soul stirring journey through Hungary, stopping to admire Europe’s largest lake – the alluring Lake Balaton. Soak up the vibrant turquoise waters and verdant scenery – a spellbinding lakeside scene. From here we continue south west towards Slovenia and it’s leafy, elegant capital of Ljubljana. Enjoy some free time here to admire the wonders of this little gem of a city. Despite its small size, you’ll be enchanted by its beauty, which features a wealth of cultures, activities and sights. DAY 16 Ljubljana to Venice (Italy)

Today we set off through the enchanting Slovenian countryside to Venice, a city built on more than 100 small islands that are lined with splendid Renaissance and Gothic palaces. It has no roads, just canals like the famous Grand Canal. The central square, Piazza San Marco, contains St. Mark’s Basilica, which is tiled with Byzantine mosaics, and the Campanile bell tower offering views of the city’s famous red roofs.

This afternoon, enjoy free time to explore Venice. Perhaps take a speedboat into the heart of Venice, stroll along the canals and ancient narrow laneways, see the instantly recognisable Rialto Bridge, St Mark's Square, the Bridge of Sighs and the Doge's Palace. A fairy-tale city of dreamlike canals, winding cobbled footpaths and fuchsia-pink sunsets, Venice makes a habit of exceeding even the grandest of expectations. Today we travel to the spectacular Tuscany region. From ever enchanting Florence to the olive groves and vineyards of Chianti, Tuscany is the essence of old Italy. Today we journey through more spectacular Tuscan countryside made famous by numerous great painters, to see the legendary 800 year old Leaning Tower of Pisa. This compelling small city is best known for an architectural venture gone very wrong. The leaning tower is one of the most memorable sights in Europe and one of the seven medieval wonders of the world. Enjoy some free time here to ensure you capture the best images possible for your inspirational collection. The Leaning Tower, glistening in marble white, is a truly mesmerising sight to behold; radiating wonder over the breathtaking Campo dei Miracoli.
