Today meet up with the tour leader of your fully escorted East Coast & Canada adventure and get to know your fellow travellers also joining us for our exciting tour. Discuss the special activities that lie in store over the next two weeks. We depart New York for celebrated Rhode Island. The region of New England exemplifies America at its most nostalgic with unparalleled scenic and cultural treasures; and is renowned for its iconic Autumn colours of bright red trees during September and October. It’s jewel of Rhode Island state is dappled with charming harbour towns that range from eccentric to its most elegant, Newport. From its vast, yacht-filled harbour to its dazzling Gilded Age mansions, Newport sparkles with extravagant opulence; a timeless summer playground for America’s rich and famous. The immaculately preserved 19th century mansions on Bellevue Avenue have to be seen to be believed; impeccably styled on French châteaux, Italianate palazzi and Elizabethan manor houses. Once home to yachting’s prize possession - the America’s Cup - today it is the cross-genre music festivals which bring the island alive - where Bob Dylan famously went electric and the likes of Miles Davis and Frank Sinatra hung-out. We continue our journey through Connecticut to Boston, one of the USA’s most distinctive and fascinating cities. Boston is where old world and new world meet in a crescendo of culture and cuisine. Essentially the oldest city in America, its cobbled stone streets are brimming with historic landmarks, injected with the modern energy of its fanatic sports culture and cutting-edge dining scene. Since a group of colonists tossed a shipload of tea into its harbour in a 1773 protest fuelling brewing revolutionary tensions - Boston has remained a city with a uniquely rebellious spirit and forward-thinking outlook.

Today we journey towards the Canadian border along the dramatic White Mountain National Forest drive, where winding roads reveal breathtaking vistas of majestic peaks, vibrant foliage, and cascading waterfalls. We stop at the magnificent Flume Gorge - a spectacular natural chasm shaped over the millennia by Ice Age glaciers and constant erosion. We meander along the boardwalk taking us deep into the gorge to admire its towering granite walls which soar nearly 30m high and the spellbinding panorama of moss-covered boulders, cascading waterfalls and glacial pools.

Today we embrace a top bucket-list experience – the awe-inspiring Niagara Falls. Our first stop is the delightful Niagara-on-the-Lake, with its timeless Victorian elegance and surrounding lush vineyards. Step into a bygone era of 19th century charm amidst the heritage buildings and horse drawn carriages, nestled at the mouth of Niagara River. Here we sample a dessert wine made from grapes that froze naturally on the vine – known as Ice Wine - it’s sweet, fiery and delightfully delicious. We celebrate with free-time in this remarkable settlement’s charismatic historic town - bursting with boutique shops, quaint B&Bs and colourful cast iron planters blooming with cottage flowers.

Then the drumroll begins for Niagara Falls - in a spellbinding display of natural splendour showcasing the sheer magnitude of mother nature, the falls are a jaw dropping spectacle. We visit renowned Horseshoe Falls, one of the three bodies of water that collectively form Niagara Falls, and stop at Table Rock for iconic sweeping views of the falls. With a touch of wistful farewell, we bid Washington D.C. goodbye, as our journey carries us towards Philadelphia. This beautiful city is brimming with cultural vitality and reveals a storied past. Birthplace of the Declaration of Independence and the United States Constitution, Philadelphia is alive with revolutionary history - the city’s glory years preserved amidst the charming redbrick terraces of Society Hill.

Enjoy free time in the heart of downtown Philly to explore the city at your own pace. Perhaps join the optional walking tour or grab the iconic cheesesteak sandwich for lunch on the go and explore for yourself.
