Day 1 Fly to Darwin

When you arrive into Darwin you can sense the cosmopolitan and thriving atmosphere of this historic tropical North Australian city. You will be personally met at the airport by a DISCOVER AUSTRALIA representative and transferred from the airport to your hotel. You can relax and use the rest of the day to explore your hotel and its facilities, perhaps take a stroll around the neighbourhood and central Darwin.

Day 2 Explore Darwin

Located on a massive and spectacular harbour on the Timor Sea, Darwin’s population is a melting-pot of cultures from more than 50 countries, who pride themselves on their unique and friendly laid-back lifestyle. Darwin has year round balmy weather and is surrounded by the iconic Kakadu National Park and Litchfield National Park. There is plenty to see and do in the magnificent and vibrant Top End.

Day 3 Darwin Guided Tour

This afternoon, enjoy a tour of the tropical city of Darwin. Take in the mixture of old and new architectural styles of buildings such as the NT Parliament House and the old Government House. See some of the devastation caused by Cyclone Tracy and later, enjoy a special dinner with your fellow travellers before retiring to your accommodation for the night.

Day 4 Darwin to Katherine

The spectacular Katherine Gorge located in Northern Territory's Katherine region is home to some of Australia's most ruggedly beautiful landscapes, towering sandstone gorges and escarpments, lush, verdant rainforest and cascading waterfalls, cruise or canoe the river to experience the true majesty of this hauntingly beautiful place.

Following breakfast, travel south along the Stuart Highway through Katherine to Nitmiluk National Park - enjoy a cruise in the gorge while looking out for wildlife and learn about the history and culture of the Jawoyn people, the Traditional Owners of the land. Return to your hotel for dinner and the night.

Day 5 Katherine to Kununurra

The Ord River is one of Western Australia's most beautiful waterways, situated in the remote Kimberley region, this mighty river is home to a wonderful array of wildlife such as rock wallabies, crocodiles and a plethora of different bird species, popular activities here include boating, fishing, cruising, swimming and jet skiing.

Drive from Katherine to Kununurra, stopping at the Durack Homestead Museum before cruising down the Ord River on your way to Kununurra for two nights.

Travel South West from Katherine to Kununurra. Visit the Durack Homestead Museum at Lake Argyle then enjoy a leisurely cruise down the Ord River from Lake Argyle to Kununurra before dinner.

Day 6 Explore Kununurra

The small but vibrant town of Kununurra is the perfect hub from which to explore the rugged and beautiful surrounds of the vast Kimberley region of Western Australia, the wealth of natural beauty and attractions here include lakes, rivers, gorges, waterholes and flood plains, man-made Lake Argyle is breathtaking in its sheer size and beauty.

After breakfast perhaps take a tour to Mirima National Park, which is of great cultural significance to the Miriwoong people and is also home to a large variety of wildlife. Admire the view of the town from Kelly’s Knob lookout before enjoying the afternoon to relax. Alternatively, revel in the opportunity to discover this spectacular region your own way.

Day 7 Kununurra to El Questro

Gibb River Road journeys 660 km through the stunning central Kimberley Plateau from King Sound at Derby to the Cambridge Gulf at Wyndham, you travel through definitive Australia, an ancient land of stunning natural beauty, red earth and ochre rock formations, vast savannahs and endless ranges, untamed and ruggedly beautiful.

After breakfast, we travel to the Hoochery Distillery, the only rum distillery in Western Australia. Enjoy morning tea at the distillery, famous for its Ord River Rum Cake. Continue down the Gibb River Road to El Questro Wilderness Park for dinner and two nights at Emma Gorge Resort in your safari style tented cabins.

Day 8 Explore El Questro

El Questro Wilderness Park is a wilderness park on El Questro Station, a huge cattle station in the vast and remote Kimberley region of Western Australia which measures over one million acres in size, the park reaches some eighty kilometres into the heart of the rugged Kimberley, attractions here include horse trekking and barramundi fishing.

Enjoy breakfast on the resort’s large verandah before travelling across the Pentecost River for a cruise along the Chamberlain Gorge. Spend some time at the station before heading back to Emma Gorge Resort. Enjoy a free afternoon before dinner and drinks at the resort.

Day 9 El Questro to Halls Creek

Argyle Diamond Mine in Western Australia's vast and remote East Kimberley region was until recently the world's largest supplier of diamonds producing around 30 million carats each year, the mine was the world's primary source of rare pink diamonds, and was one of the most technologically advanced in the world.

Visit the Argyle Diamond Mine, once the world’s largest producer of natural coloured diamonds. Continue to Halls Creek, rich in Aboriginal and European history and culture on the edge of the Great Sandy Desert for the night.

After breakfast, travel to the Argyle Diamond Mine at the traditional Barramundi Dreaming site at Barramundi Gap. Join a local Indigenous Guide for a behind the scenes look at where the magic once happened and the cultural significance of the site. Continue to Halls Creek for the night.

Day 10 Halls Creek to Fitzroy Crossing

Geikie Gorge is located in the remote and rugged Kimberley region of Western Australia, this majestic gorge was created over millions of years by the mighty Fitzroy river eroding a swathe through an ancient limestone reef, the gorge's towering multicoloured walls are in stark and dramatic contrast to the blues of the sky and river's waters.

Travel through the Kimberley to the township of Fitzroy Crossing. Visit the Yiyili Indigenous Community and enjoy a cruise through Geikie Gorge formed by the Fitzroy River.

After breakfast, travel through the Kimberley towards Fitzroy Crossing. Stop at the Yiyili Indigenous Community in Louisa Downs. Meet some of the residents at Laari Gallery, an art gallery in the community. After lunch, cruise down Geikie Gorge in the Napier Range. After dinner retire to the Fitzroy River Lodge for your overnight accommodation.

Day 11 Fitzroy Crossing to Broome

We depart for Broome after breakfast and watch the fascinating Kimberley landscapes passing us by on our way to Broome - your home for the next two nights. Delight in a fascinating tour of Broome township and then enjoy a relaxing evening to spend as you choose.

Day 12 Explore Broome

The historic pearling town of Broome is the coastal gateway to the vast wilderness of the Kimberley and is home to the famous white sands of Cable Beach, learn of the fascinating history of the pearl divers and visit a pearl farm, watch a movie at the world's oldest operating outdoor cinema and see the remains of WWII Dutch catalinas in Roebuck Bay.

Enjoy a farewell dinner with your travel companions this evening.

Day 13 Cable Beach Sunset Camel Ride
