After our delicious lunch, we return to Saigon, with free time to explore this fascinating city. Alternatively, you could visit the Jade Emperor Pagoda, an architectural gem teeming with history and spiritual significance, experience a traditional Cyclo ride through the city's enigmatic streets or simply relax as you relish an authentic Vietnamese coffee at one of the city's many charming cafés - watching the world go by. DAY 10 Kampong Cham & Scenic Cruising

This morning we dock in the vibrant town of Kampong Cham, where ancient tales and modern life intertwine seamlessly. We uncover the captivating legend of the twin hilltop pagodas, Phnom Pros and Phnom Srei, each offering panoramic views that speak of centuries-old stories etched into the landscape. Phnom Pros, known as the "Man Hill," and Phnom Srei, the "Woman Hill," are steeped in local legends that tell tales of love, rivalry and reconciliation, offering a captivating glimpse into the region's spiritual heritage. DAY 11 Kampong Cham to Siem Reap

This morning we bid a fond farewell to our beautiful rivership and the now familiar ebb and flow of the legendary Mekong River to take a splendid drive through the lush Cambodian countryside to Siem Reap - gateway to the mystical Angkor temples.

Siem Reap is a city steeped in both history and contemporary vivacity, offering a unique blend of ancient wonders and modern flair. Beyond the mystical temples of Angkor, Siem Reap discloses a bustling mosaic of markets, art galleries, and eclectic pubs and cafes. The vibrant night markets, aglow with a dazzling display of colourful neon lights, invite exploration and discovery, offering a taste of local crafts and enticing street food. The city’s quaint streets, lined with French colonial architecture, create an intimate setting where every corner reveals a story all its own – a captivating and colour filled destination that weaves its own irresistible narrative.

The surrounding Angkor Wat temple complex stands as an unparalleled testament to the grandeur of ancient Khmer civilization – a collection of over 70 temples, magically embedded within the lush grandeur of Cambodia’s ancient jungle. Their towering spires and intricate carvings quietly recounting the tales of an ancient time, where artistry and spirituality converged. The sun paints each temple in hues of gold, creating a magical atmosphere that brings the stone structures to life.

After lunch, we embark on a fascinating cultural journey, commencing with a visit to Wat Thmei Pagoda. This sacred site houses a poignant memorial stupa containing the remains of victims of the Khmer Rouge. Serving as a stark reminder of the tragic events during the Khmer Rouge regime in the 1970s, the pagoda also stands as an active monastery where Buddhist monks engage in religious ceremonies. Explore the temple grounds, gaining insights into the monks' daily lives and the spiritual essence that envelops the area. Next, our expedition continues to the Roluos group of temples, a cluster of Angkor structures dating back to the late 9th and early 10th centuries during the Khmer Empire – we find the Preah Ko, Bakong and Lolei temples which are among the oldest within the Angkor archaeological park. Constructed with brick, they may lack the grandeur of some Angkor temples, yet their well-preserved state provides a fascinating chronological perspective on Angkor's evolution. Immerse yourself in the historical narrative and architectural brilliance of these ancient sites.

As the afternoon’s awe inspiring adventures draw to a close, we cap off a magical day with a traditional Cambodian dinner, accompanied by an enchanting Apsara Dance show – a spellbinding performance that encapsulates the grace and cultural richness of Cambodia.

DAY 12 Explore Angkor Thom & Grand Circuit Temples

Today we delve deeper into the ethereal wonder of the Angkor archaeological site. We commence our day with a journey to the ancient capital of the Khmer Empire - Angkor Thom - resonating with the grandeur of its monumental gateways. A compelling archaeological masterpiece that transports us back in time to the zenith of Khmer civilisation, we enter through the renowned South Gate (an impressive array of colossal human faces intricately carved in stone), visit the Bayon Temple (a unique marvel adorned with 54 towers embellished with over 200 smiling faces) and lose ourselves in the sacred ambiance of the Baphuon Temple (symbolising the holy Mount Meru, residence of the gods in Hindu tradition). Our fascinating pilgrimage through this historic city continues as we delve into the artistry of The Royal Enclosure, admire the grandeur of Phimeanakas, marvel at the intricate carvings along the Elephant Terrace and explore the mysterious sculptures on the Terrace of the Leper King. We then continue to the jungle-shrouded temple of Ta Prohm, where colossal fig trees and entwining creepers reach into the stone foundations giving the impression of man’s creation being reclaimed by the powerful forces of nature. Take a moment to explore Srah Srang, a significant Royal bathing pool traditionally used for ceremonial cleansing rituals.

In the afternoon, our odyssey continues as we visit Preah Khan, a Buddhist temple erected by King Jayavarman VII to honour his father. A hidden jewel within the Angkor archaeological park with its ancient corridors, intricate carvings and sprawling enclosures. Explore Neak Pean, a delicate masterpiece of Khmer art conceived by Jayavarman VII, representing a celestial haven on earth. Next, we visit Banteay Kdei, set in a peaceful place and serving as a Buddhist temple – its name translates to “Citadel of Chambers” and shares the tales of Khmer craftsmanship through its weathered stone corridors and ancient shrines. As dusk descends, we settle in for a serene sunset view at Phnom Bakheng Temple. This evening - enjoy free time to explore the intriguing city of Siem Reap at our own pace.

DAY 13 Explore Banteay Srei & Angkor Wat Temples

Angkor Wat, the iconic crown jewel of Cambodia's ancient Khmer Empire is a masterpiece of stone that transcends time. Its towering spires and intricately carved bas-reliefs depict mythological tales and celestial narratives, creating a realm where history and spirituality converge - its spellbinding reflection in the surrounding moat adds to its breathtaking ethereal beauty. Angkor Wat is not just an architectural marvel; it's a spiritual pilgrimage, where every step whispers the echoes of a glorious past and offers a profound connection to the cultural heart of Cambodia.

Today we experience the phenomenal wonder of Angkor Wat, explore some off the beaten track temples and soak up the vibrant bustle of the Pshar Chas markets. We begin our day with an enchanting morning expedition to delve into the lesser-explored temples nestled in remote corners, beginning with the exquisite Banteay Srei, often referred to as the Citadel of Women. This temple is celebrated for its outstanding preservation of intricate stone carvings in a captivating pink hue.

Upon returning to the heart of Siem Reap, we immerse ourselves in the vibrant atmosphere of the Old Market, locally known as Pshar Chas. Here, a myriad of offerings spans from fresh produce like fish, vegetables and meat to an array of textiles, home décor and local Cambodian artwork. Feel the pulse of this bustling mosaic of vibrant stalls as the sweet scent of local spices and traditional street food weaves together the essence of Khmer culture.

This afternoon, our adventure reaches its crescendo at the world-renowned Angkor Wat – jewel in the architectural crown of the temple complex – adorned with the world's longest continuous bas-relief. Carved on the walls, these reliefs narrate compelling stories of Hindu legends. Dating back to the 12th century, this colossal masterpiece sprawls across approximately 210 hectares. Wander through the expansive grounds, encountering galleries, columns, libraries, pavilions, courtyards and reflective ponds that mirror the grandeur of this towering temple. This evening we return to Siem Reap where we relish a traditional farewell dinner at a local restaurant, as the day’s events paint a canvas of vivid memories that will stay with you forever.

DAY 14 Say goodbye to Cambodia

Time to say farewell to your fellow travellers and friendly tour hosts as your classic Mekong River Cruise and exceptional touring through intoxicating Vietnam and Cambodia draws to an end.
