The immaculately preserved 19th century mansions on Bellevue Avenue have to be seen to be believed; impeccably styled on French châteaux, Italianate palazzi and Elizabethan manor houses. Once home to yachting’s prize possession - the America’s Cup - today it is the cross-genre music festivals which bring the island alive - where Bob Dylan famously went electric and the likes of Miles Davis and Frank Sinatra hung-out.
