Day 1 – Welcome to Alice Springs

As you arrive into the Red Centre of Australia you can still sense the strong pioneering outback spirit of Alice Springs. You will be personally met at the airport by a DISCOVER AUSTRALIA representative and transferred from the airport to your hotel. You can relax and use the rest of the day to explore your hotel and its facilities, perhaps take a stroll around the neighbourhood and central Alice Springs.

Nestled in the heart of Australia's rugged Red Centre, Alice Springs is a place where ancient landscapes and vibrant Aboriginal culture converge to create a captivating tapestry of experiences. The town's ochre-coloured sands and the rugged silhouette of the MacDonnell Ranges form a dramatic backdrop for its exceptional Aboriginal art galleries, fascinating desert flora and fauna and mesmerising, star filled night skies. Day 2 – Alice Springs Luxury Coach Tour

Your Central Australian adventure starts off today by exploring the modern face of the historic pioneer town of Alice Springs, famous for Afghan cameleers, gold-diggers, flying doctor base, school of the air, The Ghan train, the usually dry Todd River, the Simpson Desert, 'A Town Like Alice', contemporary Aboriginal art (Todd Mall) and the Aboriginal Arrernte people who have lived here for over 30,000 years.

Enjoy a morning at your leisure to explore Alice Springs, before setting off on our 4 hour luxury coach tour with great informative commentary from our experienced local guide. Visit the Royal Flying Doctor Service (headquarters of the globally respected medical service providing a critical link to remote communities throughout the Northern Territory), Historic Telegraph Station (site of the first European settlement in Alice Springs, established in 1872 to relay messages between Darwin and Adelaide), School of the Air (provides education to primary school aged children living on remote properties throughout the Northern Territory since 1951), Anzac Hill (dedicated as a war memorial to honour those that have fallen in Australia’s wars, with magnificent panoramic views over Alice and the surrounding West MacDonnell Ranges) and Alice Springs Reptile Centre (amazing NT animals like, saltwater crocodiles, huge goannas, frill-neck lizards and Gecko Cave).

Day 3 – West MacDonnell Range Luxury Coach Tour

Today explore the iconic West MacDonnell Ranges that form the dramatic ochre red back-drop to Alice Springs, including Simpson’s Gap, Standley Chasm, Ellery Creek Big Hole and Ormiston Gorge. This amazing Central Australian geological feature has many hidden treasures for you to discover.

Travel west on Larapinta Drive, passing the John Flynn Memorial (foot of the Mt Gillen), see what remains of the twin ghost gums (famous painting by Albert Namatjira). Stop at Simpsons Gap with its beautiful permanent water hole, admire Standley Chasm (amazing red cleft that glows) whilst enjoying a delicious morning tea and perhaps walk into the spellbinding Chasm (Angkerle Creek bed). Visit the Ochre Pits to admire the vivid colours of the mineral walls – mined for generations by the Arrernte people of the region. Experience Ormiston Gorge and waterhole where we pause to enjoy a delicious ploughman’s picnic lunch, with time to enjoy the refreshing waterhole (perhaps have a well deserved swim). All the time spotting for the amazing wildlife such as eagles, kites and falcons (soaring above the range on warm currents) as well as black footed rock wallabies and desert lizards. We complete our incredible West Macdonnells experience at Ellery Creek Big Hole – one of Central Australia’s most pristine - where we have the chance to enjoy a swim in the summer months.

Day 4 – Heart of the Outback & Ancient Rock Carvings Coach Tour

Immerse yourself in the heart and soul of Central Australia as we embark on our morning adventure along the Old South Road, where the awe-inspiring expanse of the Red Centre stretches out before us. The vast outback landscape, painted in deep reds and golden hues, invites us to lose ourselves in its breathtaking beauty. Listen to tales of the ancient Finke River, the building of the historic telegraph line, and the rich cultural tapestry that has shaped this land for generations.

Our first stop is the sacred Napwerte/Ewaninga Aboriginal Rock Carvings Conservation Reserve, where the land reveals its ancient secrets. As we walk amongst the ancient petroglyphs, carved into stone by the early Arrernte people, feel the deep connection to this land and its timeless history. We then journey to Ooraminna Station Homestead, where the heart of the outback comes alive. This working cattle station immerses us in the charm, grit, and authenticity of outback life. Explore the homestead and its famed saloon, where cinematic history was made in “The Drover’s Boy”. Savour a peaceful morning tea on the homestead deck, surrounded by vast outback wilderness.

Our morning continues to the Red Dune Desert Lookout, where the deep crimson sands of the desert meet the endless sky. Stand atop the vibrant red dunes, gazing out across a landscape that seems to stretch forever. The panoramic views of the Central Australian desert, framed by the distant MacDonnell Ranges, are nothing short of breathtaking. Our final stop is the Old Ghan Museum, where the past comes alive in stories of the pioneering spirit that helped shape this rugged land. Step into a world where railroads and resilience intertwined, as we explore the museum’s treasures and relive the historic journey of The Ghan train.

Day 5 – Alice Springs to Uluru (Ayers Rock)

Uluru, the sacred monolith at the heart of Australia's Red Centre, is a place of spiritual reverence and natural wonder. Surrounded by an endless expanse of ochre sands, Uluru rises majestically from the ancient earth, its vibrant hues transforming with the shifting sunlight. Each day, the breathtaking spectacle of sunrise and sunset cast a fiery glow upon the rock. Here, you'll connect with the profound spirituality of the Anangu people, the traditional custodians of this land. Amidst the vastness of the landscapes, a unique sense of solitude and inspiration abounds, inviting a deep appreciation for the timeless beauty of the Australian outback.

This morning we set off from Alice Springs, venturing into the rugged, untamed beauty of the Red Centre’s vast desert landscapes. We pass through “The Gap” in the stunning MacDonnell Ranges - the ancient, weathered grandeur standing as silent witnesses to eons of time - and learn about some unique Australian desert flora and fauna such as the Perentie, the Thorny Devil and the Red Kangaroo. Stop at a quintessential outback roadhouse and view Atila (Mt. Conner). Arrive at your accommodation in Yulara where we prepare ourselves for the awe-inspiring Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park.

This afternoon, we visit the Uluru – Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre - explore the galleries or perhaps see local Aboriginal Artists at work - before embarking on an exhilarating drive around the base of Uluru. At the base of Uluru we listen to Aboriginal Tjukurpa (creation) stories that breathe life into this giant formation. Feel the ancient spirit of the land come alive as our guide leads us on a fascinating walk to Mutitjulu Waterhole, interpreting the meaning of the ancient Rock Art and sacred sites along the way.

As the desert light begins to dim, experience the magic of an Uluru sunset. Listen to stories and insights as the majestic outline of Uluru emerges from the sand dunes. Day 6 – Uluru (Ayers Rock) & Kata Tjuta (Olgas)

The ochre sandstone domes that make up Kata Tjuta are an incredible sight and many visitors find them even more enchanting and captivating than the better known Uluru, at sunrise and sunset these domes take on a magical appearance as they change to deep red hues, viewing areas offer sensational panoramic views of the domes and surrounding area.

This morning we rise early to witness a magical sunrise over Uluru (Ayers Rock). As the day’s first rays of light illuminate the desert, witness the landscape's breathtaking transformation as the enchantment of Uluru comes to life in a kaleidoscope of rich desert shades. With the Red Centre now bathed in the soft, golden embrace of a new day, we continue towards the mystical 36 domes of Kata Tjuta (Olgas). We pause to bask in the breathtaking panorama that extends before us on the southern side of Kata Tjuta and then immerse ourselves in the captivating presence of Walpa Gorge. Meander along the path which winds through the gorge and creek between two of the tallest domes of Kata Tjuta – a moving experience.

Day 7 – Explore Uluru (Ayers Rock)

Today, enjoy a free day to discover the delights of Uluru and the Red Centre at your own pace.
